MINISTER TEKIN MEETS WITH PRESIDENT OF THE MALDIVES MUIZZU

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin met with Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, who was in Türkiye for a working visit.
 
Educational issues between the two countries were discussed at the meeting between the delegations held at Çankaya Presidential Compound.
 
Underlining that his country has a significant young population, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu emphasized that young people often choose Turkey for higher education due to its academic expertise and technological competence.
 
Muizzu said that young people in his country want to expand the areas in which they receive education in Turkey, and that there is a need for cooperation on competent teachers who will provide education in the field of special education.
 
Reminding that Türkiye has well-established institutions with thousands of years of experience, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin stated that teacher training is an issue they especially want to support and that they are open to all kinds of cooperation in the field of education. Tekin stated that they could contribute to the training of special education teachers.
 
Stating that they are a huge family with approximately 20 million students, 1 million 200 thousand teachers and 76 thousand institutions, Minister Tekin noted that they define the Ministry of National Education as "Türkiye's biggest family".
 
Stating that there are basically two pillars in Türkiye's education tradition, Minister Tekin stated that one of them is the transfer of social values to future generations and the other is raising children with the equipment required by the age.
 
Minister Tekin's delegation included Deputy Minister Celile Eren Ökten, Director General of EU and Foreign Relations Tuba Korkmaz and General Director of Personnel Bülent Çiftci.
